Capitec and FNB Statements for Tax — What to Download

One month of screenshots is not a year of assessment.27 September 2026 All articles

What to pull

A PDF statement per account for each month in the year of assessment (1 March – 28 February), or the bank’s tax-year bundle if it offers one. Include the primary transactional account and any extra account that received invoices or paid RA, medical aid, or SARS. Credit cards are separate — they hide the real supplier if you only upload the current account.

Capitec and FNB menus change

In the banking app or online banking, look for statements / documents / tax certificates. Capitec users often need the statement PDF, not only the in-app feed. FNB online banking has statement download and, separately, IT3(b) interest certificates. If the button moved, the bank’s help page is the source, not this article.

What SARS and Taxzi need to see

Opening and closing balances, dates, descriptions, and amounts. A cropped photo that cuts the account number header can still be a statement; a story-style screenshot of three lines cannot. Password-protect the file on your disk if you email it to yourself.

After you upload

Taxzi reads the PDF and does not store it. You review every suggested line. You file on eFiling. Confirm IT3(b) and filing dates on sars.gov.za.

Questions

Is an app screenshot enough for verification?
Rarely. Ask for a dated PDF statement that shows the full period.
Do I need every savings pocket?
If interest or transfers that affect income sit there, yes. Empty pockets with no interest can wait.

Disclaimer: This is general guidance based on the South African Income Tax Act and published SARS Interpretation Notes as at the 2026/2027 year of assessment (1 March 2026 – 28 February 2027). It is not professional tax advice. Deductibility depends on your facts. Confirm current figures on sars.gov.za before you file.

Find the deductible lines in your bank statements

Upload bank statements. Taxzi flags lines that may qualify under SARS rules. Mixed shops stay out until you say what they were. You confirm every claim. This is guidance — not a filed return.

Works with FNB, Standard Bank, Absa, Nedbank, Capitec, Investec and Discovery Bank PDF statements.
